Job description

At Dataleaps, we are a boutique consulting company specialized in Data, AI, and Technology transformations. We help organizations unlock the value of their data by designing and implementing modern data platforms, advanced analytics solutions, AI-driven capabilities, and establishing well-structured Data Governance.

Our team works closely with clients to solve complex data challenges, build scalable architectures, and enable data-driven decision-making. We combine strong engineering expertise with business understanding to deliver impactful, real-world solutions.

The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building modern data platforms and analytics foundations for our clients. You will work alongside data platform engineers, analytics engineers, and infrastructure specialists to create scalable data pipelines, reliable data models, and high-quality data products.

You won't be handed in a ticket queue. You'll help shape architecture, advise clients on platform strategy, and translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platform components.

  • Develop robust data models and abstractions that enable analytics and reporting.

  • Advise clients on data platform strategy and help translate business requirements into sound technical architectures.

  • Implement ELT/ETL pipelines and ensure data quality across systems.

  • Collaborate with analytics engineers, platform engineers, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, end-to-end data solutions.

  • Contribute to the design and evolution of modern cloud data platforms.

  • Champion engineering quality - testing, documentation, and performance are not afterthoughts here.

Job requirements

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in Data Engineering, Data Modeling or Data Platform Engineering (typically 4–6 years).

  • Good understanding of Data Lakehouse architecture.

  • Hands-on experience with dbt, SQL, and Python.

  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.

  • Comfortable working in a client-facing or consulting environment, building trust and communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an engineering mindset.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Spark / PySpark.

  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK).

  • Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication skills; you can hold your own in a room with both engineers and business stakeholders.

  • Proactive ownership mindset: you spot problems early and drive them to resolution.

  • Comfortable in the messy middle: consulting means requirements evolve, and you adapt without losing momentum.

  • Willingness to lead discussions, not just contribute to them. We want to know your opinion.

  • Human: you have opinions, questions, hobbies, and maybe a questionable taste in snacks. That’s fine - we’re a little bit geeky and proud of it.

Why Join Dataleaps

  • Meaningful variety. Work on Data and AI projects across industries — no two engagements are the same.

  • Real influence. Shape the company, not just your role. We're growing, and your input influences how we work and who we become.

  • Genuine peer growth. Learn from strong engineers and challenge them back - it goes both ways here.

  • Collaboration over competition. With teammates and clients. We're on the same side.

  • Ownership by default. Continuous learning and taking initiative aren't perks; they're how we operate.
