Job description
About Us
At DataLeaps, we believe engineering is human 💡 — we build with data to remove friction, accelerate innovation, and make people’s lives easier.
We work across data platforms, applied AI/ML, and data strategy & governance — challenging, experimenting, and turning ambitious ideas into reality.
You’ll join a passionate, smart, and slightly geeky team 🤓 that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning — without the corporate fluff.
The Role
We’re looking for a Data Scientist who thrives in dynamic, data-rich environments.
You’ll explore complex datasets, design and deploy models, and collaborate closely with engineers and business stakeholders to drive meaningful insights.
This role involves working with large-scale data environments and leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to turn data into impact ☁️.
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into data science problems.
Explore, clean, and analyse large datasets to uncover insights and opportunities.
Design, build, and deploy predictive models and analytical frameworks (e.g. customer behaviour, operations optimisation).
Work closely with data engineers to ensure models and pipelines are scalable and production-ready.
Implement and maintain solutions in GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Vertex AI, etc.).
Build clear visualisations and dashboards to make data stories accessible to all audiences.
Establish best practices in model governance, testing, and monitoring.
Stay up to date with the latest in data science, ML, and cloud technologies — and bring fresh ideas to the table.
What We Offer
A friendly, human-centered team where innovation meets practicality.
Exciting and impactful data projects with real business value.
Continuous learning culture and freedom to experiment.
Flexible working setup — office, hybrid, or remote within the Netherlands.
Competitive salary or freelance rate (depending on experience).
Job requirements
What You Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist or similar.
Strong Python (and/or R) skills — with experience in libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
Proven experience with data environments — pipelines, data lakes, multiple sources, and large-scale analytics.
Solid working knowledge of GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Vertex AI, Cloud Storage, etc.).
Strong analytical and statistical modelling skills (classification, regression, clustering, time-series, etc.).
Excellent communication — you can make complex things sound simple.
A proactive, curious, and independent mindset — especially valuable if freelancing.
Fluency in English (Dutch is a plus 🇳🇱).
Nice to Have
Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer analytics.
Knowledge of MLOps, CI/CD, or model monitoring in production.
Experience with streaming data (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Kafka).
Familiarity with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
Understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks.

All done!
